Hi all I could use some help with a question thats been bugging me I want to upgrade my computer to 64 bit (I run off windows xp prof. and I'm switching to windows xp home 64 bit) and I have all the hardware to do so now I read that to upgrade my C drive is going to reboot which is fine but here's the kicker I have 2 INTERNAL hard drives my C drive and a secondary F drive, and the f drive contains ALOT of data that I cant part with so heres the question. If I install the improved OS would It just be my C drive that erases or would my F drive gets erased, and if this is the case can I simply unplug my F drive install the OS and then just plug it back in without losing any data on my F drive? hope to here back
Why on earth would you downgrade to xp home (64 bit or not)? And I'm not 100% sure but I'm fairly positive that there is no 64 bit version of XP home, unless it was released by M$ recently (unlikley). Your best bet is windows 7 64 bit, or if your comp can't handle 7 then upgrade to XP pro 64 bit. I don't know if XP pro 64 bit is still suffering from incompatibility issues yet (drivers, software acting funny, etc). Back to the original point though, if you want to be 100% sure you don't make a mistake, you can unplug your F: drive so you can't overwrite it by accident.
thanx guys I ll take the advice to kk0425: I thought about what you said and checked my new OS and it actually is pro so i guess Im upgrading from standard pro to superior xp64 pro so yay me
