I'm making a backup of my BF2 disc. When I mount the image, the autorun works fine. However, when I copy the contents of the disc onto the drive in a folder named the same as the disc, and then try to run the autorun function from there, it does not work. When I have done this to back up my other DVD's, the autorun will still run within the folder. Anyone know why this one will not. I just checked my Special Forces disc, and it does the same thing. So that means both act out in this strange way.
If your talking about when it is burned to disk. The auto run info has to be on the root of the disk not in a folder.
Not true. I just burned a DVD disc with several backups, all of the autoruns work from within the root folder of their folders. BF2 and SF are the only two I've come across that do not.
Exatly how does autorun know what folder to look in to autorun if for instance you have 4 folders with stuff in it you want to autorun. If the autorun is not in the root of the disk then autorun can not launch at insertion of the disk. If you are talking about browsing to the folder then starting the app by selecting the autorun. Then you could read what the autorun is supposed to launch and browse to that and see if manual launch will run it. Just right click on the autorun and select open with notepad to see what it wants to launch.
Right, and BF2 and BF2 SF look for autorun in that folder, which it is, but won't run. So my question is why is that? I know how autorun works, and it should work, but it doesn't.
