I've never tried burning a dvd before so i have no clue how to do it! I have Dvd+r's and a dvd burner. I also have Nero 6. I want to burn files from my computer (wmv, avi, mpg) to a DVD. I have no idea what kind of file types and stuff like that you have to use, though. If someone could please help me in making a DVD, I would appreciate it so much!

    Quick and easy.

    1. Download Freeware DivXtoDVD
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd_free.cfm

    2. Open it and input your avi, wmv, etc and press convert.

    3. When it is done, open up Nero Start Smart and selct Burn DVD-Files.

    4. Put in your blank DVD into your burner.

    5. Drag the brand new files from the DivxToDVD folder onto the dvd.

    6. Select Burn compilation and burn at 4x.

    7. Enjoy your DVD!

Thanks so much for replying to me! I was just wondering if I can use Nero Burning ROM or do I have to use Nero StartSmart? Is it more difficult to do with Burning ROM? Do I have to put certain files in the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders?

Also I was wondering if I can convert mpg files to dvd type file using that conversion program? Thanks so much for your help!

I've been converting some of my files but when I convert them, it is putting them into their own named folder within the destination folder I have set. And now they're all being named the same and I won't be able to add them all to the Video_TS folder in Nero Burning Rom because each file is going to have the same named files. Can you please help me??

yes you can use Nero Burning Rom, i use start smart, because it helps me get to what i want in Nero quicker.

VSO can convert mpg to dvd.

If i was you, let VSO finish and then post me a screenshot if you are having problems. (evn though you shouldnt :)

OMG, this is making me soo mad! I've tried 3 times now to make a DVD and it keeps failing. Here is a screen cap.

And I also have another question. I've been converting wmv files using VSO so I can put them on a DVD but each one I convert, it puts it in its own individual folder therefore the files for each video I converted are all named the same. Do I have to go through and rename each file or is there an easier way to do it?

    Thanks so much!

Here are two different screencaps of two different videos I converted. When I converted them, I set them both to the same destination folder D:\VIDEO_TS but then it automatically made another folder inside that one for each file converted. So now both of the files I converted have the same named vob, ifo, and bup files.

EDIT: OOps, in the first screencap the only reason the files are named different from the second screencap is because I renamed them.

There is your problem. Never put two converted files into the same folder. Do one and put it in any folder youd like. Create a DIFFERNT folder for the second converted movie. Then when you burn, drag the files from the folder you like and burn away.

Oh so I cant even set them to the same destination folder even if it creates a new folder for each file converted within the original destination folder?

Also then when I try to go to each folder for each converted video when adding them to my compilation in Nero, the different converted videos in each folderare all named the same (VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS.IFO, VTS_01_0.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS_01_1.VOB)and it won't let me add them if there are already the same named files on the compilation already.

And I even tried making a DVD with only one video and it still gave me that same error message.

    1) Correct

2)Would you mind telling me what kind of video this is? Your pic says it is only 70 mb...is this correct?

    3) Make sure you are dragging ALL files, .bup, .vob, etc into your Nero compilation.

    The video I'm converting is about a 40 - 50mb wmv file.

And yes, I dragged them all (vob, ifo, and buf) onto the compilation.

Truthfully, i dont know what to type. You have gone through all the troubleshooting steps that i know for VSO, all thats left is to post the last section of your NERO error log.

PS. The problem could be that you are putting so little on the DVD.

What's the last section of my Nero error log? I thought I already posted that.

Ok, I'll try putting more on it, tomorrow and see if that works.

And do I have to manually rename those files in the converted videos individual folders so they won't be named the same? Will it still work if I rename them?

Thanks so much for all your help, I really do appreciate it.

Player, use the freeware DVD Decrypter.

    Bam,
    1) You havent posted your log yet, search through the threads, as i dont know the exact location of where to it is on your PC, then post it when you find it.
    2) Dont rename anything.

    Good luck!

edit, meant to just state where Nero Burning Rom's logfile is....it's is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar

2.) Here is a screencap of what I'm talking about when I'm trying to add files that have the same name. I know you said I can't rename them so now I don't know what to do.

Screencap 1: I've already added my 1st video to the compilation but then when I go to add my second video, the files for the second video are named exactly like the files for the first video as you can see.

Screencap 2 : And this is the message that pop ups when I try to add the second video to my compilation.
