    All help would be appreciated:

I am trying to burn a DVD from an .avi file and am having some problems. I have a 4.7 GB, 120 minute blank DVD+R in my burner, and am trying to burn an .avi that is 862 MB and 105 minutes long. Whenever I get to the final screen before burning, it tells me my project requires more current disk space than is available on the selected destination device. I don't understand this at all.

Do I have to convert my .avi or what?

    Please Help!

    Thanks

You will find that the AVI file of 862mb will, once converted become in excess of 4gb which will exceed the size to fit onto a DVD5 (normal DVD)....Nero should give you the option to continue, advising that the quality may be effected.

yeah, nero should give you some compression settings, and if you are at Super Long Play which is the last one, then i suggest following Gwendolins advice.
