I have some avi files, all around 350mb each, and there is 22 in a season.
Today i tried to convert these onto dvd by using the "make your own dvd video" option, so i could play them on a dvd player.
What my plan was that i would have 2 disks per season, as i added up 11 files to just under 4gb, so i could easily fit the season onto 2 disks.
I added the files to the disk ok, but then it said it exceeded the limit by quite alot. Now, im surprised why this is, as if each episode is 350mb.
Is there a way i can make it so that i can get these 11 files which is under 4gb onto a dvd-r in Nero, or is it possible with another program?

Also, i would like to make a menu so i can select which epidsodes to play on the dvd player.

    Can someone help me please?

    Kind Regards, Sam.

    Hi sammo_101
You could burn the 11 episodes as a data disc in Nero burning rom or express but you won't be able to create a menu and your dvd player would need to play divx/avi files.

When you use Vision it's converting them another format - a dvd compliant one -the file size 'expands'. But this format will play on dvd players.
Your best option may be to use dual layer discs to more fit episodes on one disc. Using a single layer and trying to keep good quality you'll probably be able to add 3 or 4 to a single layer.

Is it possible to make the files smaller so they could fit onto a disk in Nero?

You could try reducing the size of the avi but the same thing would happen when converting to a dvd compliant file.

Here's another suggestion - I don't really recommend cause the quality will probably suffer but you can play around w/ the settings.

When you open Vision click on more>video options>dvd-video tab. Here you can change the quality setting. You could try super long play or extended play. These help in the total size by lowering the bit rate - but the lower the bit rate the lower the quality.
Under encoding mode change it to high quality to try and help with the quality - will take longer though.
Then change from DVD to DVD-9.

Now save this project to a hard disk folder instead of burning to a disc.
Once done open Recode and add the video_ts folder Vision created. Recode will compress and burn to a single layer disc.

I don't know if you'll be able to get all 11 on 1 disc this way but you can try.

When you click on Recode from SmartStart and it opens pick the Recode an entire dvd to dvd option.
In the next screen click on import dvd then find the folder where you saved this project too. When you click the + next to it the video_ts folder will show up. Then just click on that and click ok.

When you click on import dvd you mightget a message saying no disc in drive (whatever letter it is) - that's fine - just click ok and windows explorer window will show up.

Am i meant to be "saving the project" as this is what im doing and i cant open the .nvc file in recode, or am i meant to be writing the file to the hard drive?

Thanks for the help so far.

    Ok - I think I gotcha.
In the last screen of Vision pick write to a hard disk folder then pick a folder to save it to. Before this though you can create a folder where you want to save it to.
This will write the files to this folder and they are in a format that can be opened by Recode.
