I'm trying to burn a movie onto a DVD+R disc with my Windows Vista Home Basic OEMAct System and this is the first time I'm doing this. I've downloaded ImgBurn and understand how to use it, but I'm working with the built-in burner that came with my Vista and I'm not looking to buy an external burner, seeing as this is the only movie I ever plan to burn. I've tried burning onto several discs, but the discs are never compatible with any DVD players. I realized this is because I hadn't changed the BookType, but here's my problem: When I go change the BookType, there are a few burner brands that are given to choose from (BenQ, LG, LITE-ON, NEC, Nu Tech, Plexter, RICOH, Samsung. When I drop down the "Change for" option, I can't change anything to DVD-ROM. In fact, I have no idea what to do at this point. My built-in DVD burner is obviously not any of the brands given (unless I'm missing something)because none of them work (I get messages like "Unknown" and "Invalid Command Operation Code"). What does this mean? Is there some way I can burn a DVD with ImgBurn and work around this? Or is this a lost cause for me? Please help!
Are you using a laptop? What is the model number of your burner, you can get the information from Write mode in Imgburn...place a blank disc in your drive then copy and paste the information from the right section into your next post in this thread.
you problem is the drive you have doesn't support booktyping. so you have two choices buy the DVD dash R format instead of the DVD plus R media or get a ODD the will support booktyping. remember to use good blank media like Taiyo Yuden ,Verbatim or Sony burning at 6x to 8x max
I need all the information from the right pane of Imgburn with a disc in the drive. EDIT: You can crossflash this drive to a 203B, which is capable of bitestting ~ http://club.cdfreaks.com/f105/crossflashing-ts-h653b-using-samsung-firmware-251196/ What are you trying to burn? Avi, VIDEO_TS, ISO etc.?

You can't booktype DVD-R media. Put a DVD+R disc in your drive and set the booktype again using the Samsung tab.
That's what I've been trying to do. I tried DVD-R discs at the suggestion of another user and that failed as well. When I insert a DVD+R disc into the drive and try to change the booktype with the Samsung tab, I'm now able to change the booktype to DVD-ROM, but the DVDs still won't play on DVD players. Also, I was wrong before. The files I'm trying to burn are AVI. What now?
You need to convert the files from avi to dvd compliant. You can use dvd flick, as it's a free program to convert the files.
