I have seen this problem posted before but with no real solution. Everytime i try to
pull off Cast Away it fails on VOB 3_04. Only this file. I can skip it and continue but never that file. I have tried 3 differant copies and have had the same results. Tried just about everything. This is the only movie i have has problems with.
    Thanks
Sorry for double posting....i tried to delete

What software are you using to rip cast away with?

And what settings are you using?

i'v tried dvd decrypter, dvdxcopy, dvdxpress,
dvdshrink and the one that comes with dvd squeeze. Tried cleaning, differant copies and so on. Another user on here had the same problem in the same spot. Maybe we have the same burner. (hp dvd300i).

I do not use your type, so cannot comment on that bunrer.....

Myself I use a seperate DVDROM rather than using the burner....preserves the burner for burning......

Maybe worth sticking it in a friends DVDROM and see if they encounter similar issues....

Does the dvd play OK in the PC or standlone?

Hi Guys, this is a strange one.

I have a region 4 Copy of CastAway and i have just backed the movie up perfectly.

Iused DVDShrink and Nero and everything works OK.

What region is yours? Have you checked the disc to see if it is dirty or damaged?

The region won't be an issue as it will have already done the IFO containing it and also made it region free if it has been selected.....

I am taking a wild stab in the dark but it may just be down to the rewriter....as they have tried with several discs of the same movie....to no avail.....wierd....

I would try and get it to rip on someone elses PC with a standard DVDROM, see if it works then....

BaaBaa, that may be true, however your dealing with 2 standards PAL (R4) and NTSC (R1).

Now i know for a fact that the R1 release has RCE and Macravision. The R4 has nothing.
Also i have burnt the same movie to some cheap Media i.e. 55p each and it still works perfect on Pana and Philips machines. Bear in mind i am still using a Pana Burner A with no firmware update. In other words it's ancient?????.
