    Hello

I have Magellans maping software package(Magellan 3D Mapsend Topo US). It is on 3 CD disks. You have to have the 3rd disk in the cd rom, while running the software in order for the software to run. My 3rd disk got scratched pretty bad and I Started having problems with it. I tried to back up the CD with nero but couldnt because of the cd damage. I did finally got the disk ripped to my harddrive as an ISO file with no errors - I burned it to a disk and now when I try to run it, it says that there is (not a valid cd in the G:) drive. I figure there was some kind of protection on the disk so you couldnt copy it. How can I fix this so I can burn the ISO to the cd and get it to work ? I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it and the 3rd disk (that I made) workes fine during the installation, but it just will not work when trying to run the program.

    Thanks for any help
    Tbone :)

Many apps such as your Magellan software use types of protection that are very difficult to reproduce or get by if at all. The first step would be to identify what protection the disc is using. We'll keep our fingers crossed and use A-Ray Scanner to hopefully identify a known protection that we can copy :)

    thanks for the reply :)

I love this program. It says that is has (Tages). I have read that this is not one that is not easly delt with. If you can help, please let me know.
Ive tried and tried to rip another image off the disk but can't. I also called magellan and they said (To bad - The book that comes with the software gives you the warning to take extra good care of the disk because it is impossible to make extra copies) Told me they would be happy to sell me another copy for $150.00 !!! I told them Ill never buy anything from them again. I still have the 1 sucessful rip that I made - I also made extra copies just in case I mess something up.

$150!!! I bet they'd be happy to sell you one. That's the real bitch of it all - they protect the disc so you can't protect your investment then charge you a ridiculous amount for a replacement.

Tages is indeed a very hard protection to back up and it's one that I've absolutely no experience with. I guess the best we can do is to try both Alcohol 120% and/or BlindWrite5. Both have fully functional trial versions so we might as well start with A120. Get it installed, open it up then click the Copy Wizard on the left side of the window. Now you should see a drop down at the bottom left of the screen where you can select a protection profile and we obviously want to use the Tages profile. Once that's selected, set the read and write speeds to 4X and let her rip (nice pun, eh?).

Let us know what happens :)

I forgot a question I had for you - is this the mapping software for a Magellan GPS unit? I'm looking at getting a 200 series for my next hunt. Are you happy with the GPS itself?
