hi this may not be the right area for my question so please point me in the right direction if needed.

i use a pc which is connected to my network & also connected to my plasma tv via a vga connection to playback all downloaded divx files e.g. heroes.

i also have an ATI Wonder remote controll which i use with the ATI graphics card to control the pc.

If i use Windows Media Player to view my divx files it allows me to pause, stop & play the file. However i CANNOT REWIND OR FORWARD using this software.

Does anyone know if there is a media player that i can use which i can control with my remote control which will allow me to forward & rewind the file & give me any other added features?

    many thanks

Should be possible with Media Player Classic or mplayer via lirc.

just opened a Divx file in Media Player Classic but the rewind & forward buttons were greyed out.

I could only use the slider to move forward or back.

When i use the normal Windows Media Player again the only way to rewind or forward is to use the slider which is a bit tricky

    any help??

lirc is an opensource lib for infer-red remote controls. mplayer is a media player that can be compiled with support for lirc. Don't have a remote here but I can control it with my wireless gamepad. Input can be configure via a config file. Default is to have left/right pad/joystick skip 10 frames and up/down do 60 frames. Hold it down and it is basically the same as ffwd. For remotes though I think it uses a lirc conf file instead.

    thanks for the reply

unfortunately Lirc & configuration of it is a bit beyond me so ill keep searching for another media player to see if it can do what i want or just keep using that slider :)
