I have a seagate 300gb external harddrive. It was working great a day ago, but for some reason today all my pcs can't get connected with it. The power is on, but i don't think hear the fans working as much as before (can't be too sure). Any help would be great. Thanks

A common problem on external drives is the USB to IDE controller failing.
If you are sure that power is getting to it, and can not connect via Firewire either then this may be the cause.
There is not much else to go wrong other than the drive itself.
If you plug it in and the PC sees a USB device but the HDD is not accessible then its likely to be the HDD, if nothing is seen or only intermittently seen then its probably the controller.
If its the controller, you will need to open the unit and connect the HDD to a spare IDE port on the motherboard to retrieve any data.
Data recovery services that are approved by manufacturers are extremely expensive, as you may be guided that way if you still have warranty.
