Hello, I would recommend using Nero Vision Express 3;make sure you disable burn at once function and set the priority to the highest. NVE 3 will automatically compress your avi file and encode to dvd compliant format. After you add the avi file, it will ask you if you want to burn eventhough there will be a small loss in quality. Just say yes and it will switch to (long mode). I've done this many times with nve 3 and it works everytime. Hope this helps; happy burning.

    Hi redhouse
    Some other options for you:
If you have Nero you can use Recode to compress and burn to a single layer disc.

Or you can use DVD Shrink to compress. Shrink w/ autoburn w/ Nero or decrypter.
    shrink

    decrypter

Recode and Shrink will handle dvd compliant files. Can't use for avi's unless they have been converted w/ ConvertX or Vision.

I must be reading wrong or missing something. That's almost 6 1/2 hours of video on 1 disc. At that rate, the quality would be abysmal. And is this the Tom Cruise/Dustin Hoffman movie or a miniseries of the same name? Just curious.

    Hi there,

VSO ConvertXtoDVD (Not the freeware DivxToDVD v0.5.2b) should have been to convert both files and reduce the bitrate to make it fit on 1 DVD5 media.

You have to make sure to choose DVD5 as the output in the settings.

    My 2 cents...
