    Right off the bat, I'm on a WDS network using three routers, the XBox is connected to the third router. Currently, I'm hard-wired to said router so internet connection is not an issue.

    There's 3 PCs in the house, a network is already setup for printer sharing. I was following chunkhead's topic: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/523607#3165659 that i found on google, and I have my folder shared properly and xbox:xbox setup in SMB and ftp. When I go into my files and go to workgroup (SMB)I can see my pc, but nothing happens when I click on it, and if I check the folder size it comes back as zero. Running SlaYer's softmod.

    If there's any info required, please ask me, I'm anxious to get this working.

    Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong? (Sorry if this is the wrong forum, I'm new here.)

    Hellow fellow WDS user :)
    I use WDS on 2 Buffalo routers, with many pc's and xboxes ethernet wired into the routers (plus into extra switches too so everything talks to everything else).
    Mine all works fine, but i've never used Slayer's (though i doubt that has anything to do with it).
    I'll have a quick google too..

    It almost sounds like it's as simple as making the folder shared. If you see your network on your xbox it's properly set up but if there's nothing shared your xbox isn't going to see anything besides the workgroup name. If you're using windows just right click on the folder and go to sharing and security. The second option down allows you to name your folder and share it on your network. After you've done that just click ok or apply and restart your xbox. When it restarts it should see your new shared folder.

    I don't understand if it's the computer that see's it or the xbox (you didn't give that info). If you are trying to ftp to the xbox then disreguard my post.

    xbox sees the pc, but can't see anything shared. I already have the folder set to share, that's why I don't understand the problem. As far as I can tell, it should be working.

    To share files with a windows computer you need to install samba

    source:: linux filesharing on mixed networks

    Mine can share files and i have never installed Samba on my PC, so that is not required.

    Here are the only two things that i did to get my XBMC to recognize the workgroup on the PC
    1. I did go in and set the whole drive to be shared, i also set the individual folder on that drive that i wanted to shared (and you notice it now has the shared icon of the hand holding the folder). Also you can run the wizard if it asks you to do that.

    2. i mapped the drive on the network (not sure if this is required it is just something i have always done.
    Go to Tools->Map Network Drive

    After doing those two things i was able to access the files i had on the PC through my wireless network.
