Ok so first of all this junker I call my notebook is a stock Dell Inspiron 2200... 256MB RAM 40 GIG Pentium M...my question to any one who cares to give me a suggestion or personal preference is ... is putting a 1024MB (1 gig) RAM worth the 169.99 or am I better off sticking to a 512MB either way im trying to find the best possible upgrade for this junker without pumping it full of expensive upgrades that would have similiar effects of something cheaper. So my all around question is at what point (if you can be specific as far as upgrades go) will my 2200 peak out or plateau when it comes to performance? Any help would be greatly appreciated
I personally would go for the 1Gig, according to crucial your laptop only has 1 memory slot, so you can't buy 512MB then add another 512MB later. It's a personal thing really, I know guys that run on lower spec laptops than yours with stock 256MB and they think it's fine. I personally find them unbearable once a few software proggies are installed and loaded. It's all a matter of opinion, but mine, go all out and get the GIG
CensorRIP, it's a very nice, modern, expensive portable computer. 512MB is great; 1024MB is better. Be glad that you can buy RAM for it and it's relatively inexpensive - many older laptops are topped-out at 384MB (or less!) It's not a gamer w/o video acceleration, but it's still pretty nice. The only way you could be so down on it, is if it was given to you...? Regards
