help with HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4080N

    I have a Gateway 7320 GZ, running windows XP, the DVD drive is not being recognized in My Computer, it is in the bios, I have unistalled it and when I try to reinstall it says cannot complete installation. I have deleted the lowerfilters, there were no upperfilters in registry editing. I have tried to udate driver but no luck either. Any ideas? I think all I need is a driver but cannot find one.

    it says error 39 also
