Hello All, I just bought a new HP writer 1040i. My Vista Ultimate does not recognize it. It appears that it doesn't have the correct drivers. I searched the HP website, sent them a couple of requests/questions but no response yet. I bought this unit (which is supposed to be Vista compatible) to replace my older Samsung (not compatible) which was working fine until I got Vista. I am a total newbbie - any help would be much appreciated... Thanks
Vista was billed as fully backward compatible. At this point, I'm not sure if vista is even compatible with itself. If HP and microsoft can't help you with the drivers, then no one can. There is always praying to the Almighty.
Just give us a call, iluvendo and i will come by and lay hands upon and heal thy pc! As iluvendo stated, Vista is still "working out the kinks" of a release date that should've been put back a little bit. You may want to check the M$ website for updates that may render Vista compatable with with your HP.
7thsinger bro, skip the laying of the hands, it's old fashioned Exorcism time for Vista by M$. Bro,don' forget the holy water, bible, rosary and Install disc of Xp for this exorcism. Remember we chant "Vista be gone!" Did'nt know microsoft was abbreved M$ till today.
I'm in on the exorcism bro. Lets cast that Vista demon. I upgraded when it came out, and within a week went right back to XP Pro SP2, couldn't be happier, except for the wasted expenditure. Yeah, M$ is a fitting abberiviation. Glad to have shared some knowledge (slang) today. My work here is done. ;P
Father 7thsinger, it's always a pleasure working with you on case.Godspeed and peace be with you. Father iluvendo
