Hi. I just purchased a Liteon internal dvd writer. I removed my old dvd-rom. There were two things that were plugged into the dvd rom, a four pronged wire, and a wire with like 30 prongs. When I try to start windows, I am broughten to the safe mode screen, but all of the potions bring me back to the safe mode screen again. I then put my old dvd-rom back in, and windows started fine. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Make sure that the master/slave setting of then new drive is the same as the last one. Look on the back of both you old drive, and your new drive. You will see what is known as a jumper. Use your fingers to pull out the jumper on the new drive, and put it in the same place as it is on the old drive.

The 4 pronged wire is your power. Make sure that you firmly connect it to the new drive.

The other one is the ribbon cable that connects to your motherboard. It is more that likely a 40 wire, 40 pin cable. Make sure that it is connected securely to your new drive, too.
