    Hi
I have a problem with my ipod. When I plug it into the computer using the usb cable, it charges as per normal. But it does not show up in my computer and my computer does not detect it at all. However, when I open itunes, my device is shown. I cannot transfer my videos at all and I think my songs cannot be transferred as well. When I click on my gadget name under device, a window opens to show that I must upgrade and pay. Since I do not want to pay, I click the option no, thank you. Then the same window shows again, this time with the option ok. I click on it and I am transferred to itunes store, which I don't want. I see other ppl itunes and under device, their gadget has music and videos. Mine does not show at all. Plz help asap.

Just bring it back dude and dont get another touch...i have had three..two 8gigs and a 16 gig and trust me i have had nothing but huge problems..im bringing the 16 back and looking at other options..i really dont know how apple built such a huge name on such bothersome products..i have had a million problems with my touches and after smashing(boy did i really feel great after that)the first 8 gig i should have stopped there..and the reason no one is answering your question is because everyone is busy trying to get theres to work..if it wasnt for the fact that they have coverflow and its nice and slim for a 3.5" screen i wouldnt have bothered..if you have the time then glue yourself to these forums and good luck to you..but if you want something less bothersome and would like to have a life then bring it back and look at other options..TRUST ME FOR ALL THE COOL THINGS IT DOES ITS NOT WORTH THE TIME OR MONEY(OR LOST**SPECIAL** TIME WITH YOUR WOMAN...

seems it worked alright in the end. I used a different comp wif windows xp. Install itunes. First thing i did was reset sync history! Seems that fixed the problem and the itunes program showed my ipod device and i can click under my device. Thank god! And i ticked the box manually manage your files and folders. :D Now im watching videos cos i dun noe how to operate my psp! :( To answer your question, my previous comp was vista! mebbe there were bugs in it. Change to XP!!

MrNacho use iTunes... it may take you to the iTunes store but you can just click on any other item on the left side and it will take you out of the store.

I have movie and TV Show files that I "import" into iTunes and then I drag to the iPod Touch. No problem. I first do have to convert the file to mp4 file type though. I use "Cucusoft iPod Movie & Video Converter". Very easy to use.

Do explore iTunes. You'll learn to use it. After I import a file I right click it and go to "Info". There I select the type of file (say TV Show or Movie), enter the sequence for TV Shows (season and episode) and even add a cover photo for it. Makes it just like when you "buy" from iTunes.

Explore and you will learn. Hope this note helps you.

    Jabrony,

No offence, but your difficulties are most likely due to lack of experience, I'm sure a consumer product from giant Apple Inc. would would very well before being released.

Maybe you were doing something with it which you weren't supposed to do, and wasn't doing it right e.g. jailbreaking it incorrectly?

Trust me, I tried that. When I opened my itunes, it will automatically show this screen where I had to download the latest ipod version for a certain amount of fee. And when I clicked on the button that stated not interested or sumtin like that, the same thing happens. It doesnt change. The update to latest version for a certain amount of money still comes out. And my device is not detected. My ipod charges but itunes does not detect my device. That was with vista. With XP, its different. Still I havent tried the steps which I did in my previous post on the Vista comp. Not that I can do anything, rite now, I'm miles away from that comp. And I dun plan on using Vista anytime soon, not with the amount of bugs it still has. Sorry for the late reply
