Could anyone please let me know what is the lowest speed processor to watch dvd movies on a laptop where the video is still smooth? i have a compaq armada 7800 p-2 300 will this work fine? could something like a 166 mhz do okay also? Thank everyone for all input....
I would say you want at least a P3 or equivlant and make sure you have a fast DVD-rom drive and lots of Ram. The limiting factor is the DVD drive, make sure to get an 8x drive. There are software packages you can get that read up to 30min ahead on the disc to allow for smooth viewing and less battery drain with constant drive spinning. I would look into that as well. Cheap software pack, might allow you do view seamlessly on you P2.
