I need help seriously. So i got a new 9V battery, plugged it into my programmer, attached my matrix chip and hooked it all to my PC (PII-400mhz, WinXP) and i saw the red LED go on. I ran WinLPC and it said
something like "Previleged use" or somethignlike that and i hit OK and it ran WINLPC. I tried programming the chip and it didnt work, it said error erasing. so i figured i must erase whats on the chip, so i hit file>erase and it gives me an error about erasing. I read the system tray bar, and it says device no connected, yet the red LED was still on. I dunno what to do. please help out. I dont mind using the DOS program WMilk, but i need someone to give me a full command line to enter in. thanks.

i followed the instructions on the page, hit program, and selected a 256k bios to load up. it gave an "error erasing chip" window. So i click OK adn the status bar reads: Port 378, Offset: FFC00000, Device: Plugged, Status: Idle.
So then i hit File>Erase and confirm the erase, adn get an error with a window saying "error erasing chip". Now what?

I had the same problem. How did I get around it? I tried another machine and it worked.

I have read in a lot of places that the programmer is very picky. Some machines it works fine on, others it doesn't.

Some say Intel machines are OK but mine was an Intel but it just doesn't work. I have to use my PC at work.

I was using windows XP and I read somewhere there was something you could install to get it working but I just used my work PC.

Find a friend with a PC and try it on their machine.

    Hope this helps.

yeah that was hell for me for a while - i've done over 30 matrix chips now and sometimes you just have to keep at it and it will eventually go. i've had to pinch the programmer and chip together, or puch the programmer into the LPT port while it was flashing. for some reason it seems i have better luck flashing the chips using a laptop too. but they will eventually work. i did have 1 time where i actually had a bad chip and had to get a new one sent to me. let me know if you get it flashed or not.

    OK, i got it working,
installed the chip (flashed it from anojther machine) and set it to mode 3, always on, the green LED is always one, but before it goes on, the Xbox reboots 3 times, and the front CD tray eject biutton flashes red and green. I dont see anything on the screen. now what? i think iput the right BIOS on. mine is made in october 2002, so the 1.1 bios should have worked. help me someone

The alignment of your chip is wrong if you are getting that 3 reboot effect.

Are the 15 LPC points on the motherboard under the modchip filled in or are they just holes?

My XBOX is a 1.1 and they were just holes. I had to fill them in with solder for the Matrix chip to make proper contact. When i did this, I managed to get past the 3 reboot problem.

So much for a solderless chip!

    Hope this helps.
