I remember Roxio did that with me. It is because it is using LPCM audio. You want to do Dolby Digital AC3. The problem is that with DVD Builder Basic you can only use LPCM. There is an option somewhere to make it fit a disc. I no longer use Roxio (drag to disc tried to take over my PC).

If you do not want to fit it to the disc (compress the movie), you can create a DVD Folder. Do this either from DVD Builder if available or make an ISO and open it with DVD Shrink. Set the output to DVD Folder.

Then you will have to separate audio and video and downsample the audio. After that you will have to resync the audio and video. There is also a good change you will have to edit the IFOs...

You can also try to lower the video quality, but that is basivally what "Fit to Disc" does when you choose it anyways.

There are other programs like Nero Vision Express, which lets you choose Dolby Digital. Also, are your original files .vob or .avi? There may be other option available if you use .avi files.

i downloaded dvd shrink and divx2dvd and after i change them to a ts ts folder when i put them on roxio dvd builder it tells me i can't create chapters or do nything to edit the file or it will lose its audio, what can i do to stop that? my movies are avi. and mpg. and i do not know how to do an iso file, i've tried plenty of times to do it, i've read the instructions on this website and still could not get it.

I removed Roxio from my PC, because of Drag to Disc and switched to Nero, so all my info is coming from memory and I only used Roxio for about 3 days...

I do know that programs like DVD Builder and Nero Vision Express will not accept DVD Folders. You can open the .vob files only and not the IFO/BUP files.

Once you have a DVD Folder you will want to open Roxio's burning program. I do not remember the options for creating a DVD, but you should be able to drag the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folders to your compilation (NOT Drag to Disc. NEVER use this). If you have Roxio smart Creator or whatever the thing is that opens some orange screen that lets you choose what you want to burn, try that.

There should be an option for burning a DVD Video (NOT DVD Data disc).

You want to use DVD Builder if you want to create menus. After you add a video file (the .VOB only) you should be able to edit the chapters. There should be a button that says add chapters towards the bottom. Do it manually because it will be faster than auto mode. You will have to do it for each video file.

If your project is larger than the DVD will fit there should be some "project options" or something like that in the File menu. That should be the one that has "Fit to Disc" and lets you adjust audio/video quality.

I hope somebody that has Roxio will drop by this forum and give you more help. If not, I can always reinstall it and post a mini guide for you.
