I just downloaded a Smallville episode in .mpg format, it's the only decent quality format available for them. But the movie keeps freezing every couple of seconds, then unpausing. Any idea what the problem is?

Also, I will be putting it on a DVD-R, so would it freeze then? Or is it just a codec I am missing on the PC?

I have been trying this mpg and another one again today. It seems like one time they freeze, one time they don't. It's starting to annoy me now.

Tried on another computer? Encode to VCD and test it out on a standalone?

I have no other computer to try it on. How do I encode to VCD?

By the way, the file I am using is a preview of the episode. Although it is half done.

    Maybe thats the reason?

Played the first 20 mins just now with RealOne(which it screwed up with before) and WindowsMedia Player, it worked fine. Yet I haven't done anything to it since it started screwing up yesterday evening.

Try to separate the audio from the video (avi) and then put them back together. Encoding it into VCD won't help

He said it was an mpg file and the problem is probably that its only half done after all. See if this is from p2p, you dont get the file from start to finish transfered u get it bit by bit until it is all complete!! However you shouold get a program that has been built to preview files from p2p, I believe one is Distributed with KaZaa Lite K++ Edition that should work better to preview!
