Hello everyone. To start off, I would like to mention that I have read through about 50 pages of this forum and done several searches but I haven't found anything that matches my issue. Background: I am new at this (obviously) and I am just looking for a little help. I am using a HP DVD writer 300i with the software package that came with the hardware (ArcSoft Showbiz). I am trying to combine two mpg2 files which the software Showbiz has done nicely for me, but when I attempt to burn the project to DVD my software is telling me the file is too big. The file itself is 3.07gig so there should be no problem fitting it onto a DVD+R. The only problem is that the movie is 137mins and I think that is throwing off my software. The software itself will convert the mpg2 over too DVD format but even when I select my hard drive as the destination, the converted files do not exceed the 4.7gig limit of a DVD+R. I have tried using the DVTool to merge the files to start with but then my Showbiz burning software only recognizes the first part of the movie and not the merged second part. I have even used truncate with DVTool (errored out each time though) to no avail. Is there something out there that I can use to compress the movie down to the required 120mins that my Showbiz is hanging up on? Like I said, I am new to this and have gotten lost in many of the articles. This is driving me nuts, I have been trying get around this problem for a week now and am loosing hope. Is there a better burning program out there that will compress the movie automatically to 120mins? Are there any how to articles available for this type of situation? Any help would be appreciated.
Do you say you have converted files on your HD? I mean you have Vob, IFO and Video TS? If so and the total size is under 4.38Gb you will be able to burn directly with Nero using the DVD video option. If the complete file is more than 4.38 Gb then you can try using DVD Shrink to compress it so it will then burn onto one disc, again using Nero. Hope this helps.
