    Hallo everyone...

I have recently connected my pc to my samsung LE26R8 HDTV... I have been experimenting with different resolution settings but i i can't get it to show in 1280x720. The closet is 1280x768. When i try to change the resolution to a message saying "not supported" appears on the tv screen. But isn't it supposed to be able to run in 1280x720?

    Thanks a lot

TV displays and PC monitors are different. They most differ in gamma. See especially point 16 in the following link:

Said simply - a TV display is intended for TV and a PC display is intended computer work. There are some monitors which claim to work for both functions and, although I don't have one to check, the appropriate connectors should modify the signal for the intended function.

You didn't say what video card you are using. I have long been interested in video editing and just recently got hi-def equipment. So I bought an nVidia 7300 GT because it has component HDTV output from the second video output. I got a 15 inch HDTV, brnad name Element, from Circuit City and hooked it up adjacent to the primary PC display. The nVideo has a setup wizard that configures the displays properly - and it works quite well. The HDTV is set so it even has overscan typical of TV displays!

Checking the nVidia Control Panel it says the HDTV is 1216x684. It displays hi-def video imported from my camcorder beautifully!

    HTH, Ken
