Hi i managed to save a video clip from youtube.com. i saved it to my desktop but the file is a PHPVIDEO file. i can watch the vid but i wanted to edit it, any ideas what software to use for php file.. thanks
PHP is an HTML-embedded scripting language -- so what you have is a script file to play the movie/clip ! How big is it ? that should give you a clue -- you can read those file with notepad , in it you may find the link to that movie/clip !
it is 49mb. i tried to open it with note pad but nothing happened then it closed down (not responding.... thanks for the quick reply
If it's like 49MB -- it cant be a script file -- must be a video file .. Mmm... scratching my head what you could do with it ! Maybe someone in here can help you !
Yep, just whatever it is really, but with a php extension, same as when you use a php script to generate a jpg or whatever. Windows Media Player, etc. should still play it as long as you have the correct filters installed and something like Media Info should be able to identify it. Note pad should also open it, might just take awhile, there may or may not be something easily recognisable in the header though.
Thanks for the help guys. windows media player only plays the audio, this is what happend when i opened it with notepad €p ,%h(°KËòäÈÑqûþ‘€Â ±,pƒ,Vm€êØø!N! °òA$À0"|ø\\«=ïB‡&P`„¥JAB‡á ||¬~¾_ÀCžLJ.... i used firefox to save the video clip, if that helps and the only program that will play it is VLC Player. I really need to some how convert this file into something that nero or roxio can read...
Hey, can you explain to me how you managed to download the video file from youtube. I would like to know how to do the same and if I can get the file, I can try playing with it also. I also noticed, you say you wanted to know how to do the same with google video, did you manage to download a video file from google as well? I recall seeing someone mentioned converting a video from google, that only played in vlc player, to something more common as .wmv I will try to look that up.
you can save the clips if you use firefox, they have a greasemonkey extension that when you go to site like google and youtube a link comes up with save video as... hope that helps
Hey matt, I looked into the greasemonkey extension for firefox and installed some user created scripts. It downloads the files perfectly. They are .flv files that can be played in vlc player. In order to convert these into a more common video format, you can use a program called CinemaForge. It can convert into any of the following formats you like, .avi, .mpg, .wmv, .mov or .rm. I haven't been able to get my hands on the full version of this program, but I tested it out with the trial version from download.com and it worked. There is some quality loss of course. I'm sure there are other programs that can convert .flv into more common formats, just need to search for more. I hope that helps though.
