    Hi,
I have a PS2(fat 1) ver 5 I think. Anyway its about 2 years old and when I bought it I had it modded with the Messiah chip by a pro modder. It's been fine up until lately. While it will play an original PS2 game fine its having problems with my backups. I have made the backups with the decrypter method or the Nero CopyDVD method and use Traxdata(RitekG05) DVD-R's. When I place a backup in the ps2 I will get the Playstation popup menu just before the game normally loads and then just a black screen. Sometimes it will go to the screen showing the memory discs and will show(or sometimes not) a golden disk, but when I click on it, it does not load, just a black screen. However if I tilt the pS2, juggle it around kinda, the backup will load. Then when I find the position the game will play in I have to try and keep the PS2 in that position to play the game. This could be upside down or standing on its side tilted over. Would anybody know the probable cause of this?

One other question, If I cannot resolve this I thouht I would get Swap Magic and the flip top. If I got this and put it on my PS2 would it work or not. I would not attempt to mess with the Messiah chip so it would have to stay in the machine. I'm in Dublin and mod-chips(or installing them) have become illegal so I can not get a modder.

PS: I know I do not use TY discs but I have been using RitekG05 discs for years and use them for all my DVD backups and seldom have any issues. While TY discs may be the best the Traxdata RitekG05 are also v.good.

it could just be that the laser needs cleaning or adjusting.
try that first as i have never heard anyone who had a similar problem.
