You have to tell the PS2 what its' address is. When you install the network adapter and configure the PS2, you will be asked to input the address.

It's been a while since I did all this. From what I remember, you need to get all the I.P. info from your internet provider (I.P. address, gateway etc) and input that when prompted while setting up the network adapter. When I set mine up, I went through a router and the PS2 I.P. I assigned it was almost identical to the I.P. of my p.c. and router.
I believe that you could input the same address as your p.c.'s, so long as only one or the other was on at any one time. Someone else out there may be able to clarify that point as I am not certain.

    hi

    use ics internet conection sharing

you need two net cards on pc if you use netcard to modem

    only one if using usb

if using this when you share your internet connection

the ip address for the shared net card would be

    ip 192.168.0.1
    subnet mask 255.255.255.0

    on the playstation

    the ip would be

    ip 192.168.0.2

    subnet mask 255.255.255.0

default gateway 192.168.0.1 (the same as shared net ip)

dns server 1 192.168.0.1 (the same as shared net ip)

    dns server 2 not needed

    i hope this helps

    john
