    Hi,

I have had my Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 for a good 8 months now and I love it bits as its just so damn fast, the only problem though is the noise that the fan makes. At the moment I am using is stock fan that came with it, after looking around Google I am under the assumption that Intel stock fans are noisy and upgrades are needed.

So now I am looking for a better fan that is overall much quieter than the one at the moment. I am not going to overclock it so the noise issue is the main priority, so far I have been looking at the Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro 7. This is down to the fact that it has been noted for is quiet operation, has PWM and is fairly easy to install for a beginner.

Now does anybody think I am going for the right HSF or can you recommend an alternative instead, also does anybody know whether the Freezer Pro can run on its side, i.e. on a vertical mobo. I ask this as on some site it said it couldn't, on other sites they picture it running it vertically though.

Thank You for all of your help.

If you are not going to overclock, the Freexer 7 is your best option for price vs. performance. And, yes, it can be installed on a vertical mobo in a midtower with no problem... I have one cooling my E6400 in a Raidmax Smilodon.
