Hi, I have a DSi with a R4DS ultra card with a 2 GB micro SD which has been working fine for some time. This morning I ran system update on the DSi and subsequently the R4 cards stopped working showing the error "an error has occurred - press and hold power to turn system off etc" So I presumed I needed to update the drivers. I have downloaded and installed what I think is the correct driver (kernal 1.55- direct from www.r4ultra.com) as well as trying various ones from Xpertron but none seem to work. Can anyone suggest where I might be going wrong please?
You have updated the DSi to the latest fiirmware, this has effectively blocked the flashcart. If the cart cannot be upgraded (as most R4 variants ) then the cart is now useless. Sell it to someone who has not upgraded their DSi (of has a DS lite) Buy a new cart Not an R4 variant Try M3iZero, Acekard2i, EZFlash Vi All these can be updated as standard, also never update the DSi if you want the carts to keep working - new features are nice but the downside is huge!
Thanks for the reply all be it rather depressing. No way of doing a 'system restore' on the DSI then? or restoring it to factory settings?
As this update was to render the flashcarts useless, they did not put in a backdater / restore. Good news is that the latest carts still work and only cost $10 - 20 But avoid DSi updates as this will come round again and the next update may not have a workaround
