ok my xbox hardrive has a serious problem. I get error code 7 whenever i try to turn the xbox on and 9%5 of the time it wont let me play any games. Error code 7 is hard drive failure. To fix this, can i just format my hard drive and/or restore it to factory settings to fix it up?Has my hard drive burnt out that i need to get a new one?Much help will be greatly appreciated. By the way, my xbox is hard chipped (duo x2 lite) and is evo x'd.

PS:how can i find out how big my hard drive is?i opened my xbox and looked at the hard drive but it doesnt say how many gigs it is there.

if your box is chipped then you can just drop a new hard drive in and run the slayer or AID disk to rebuild it.
You might get lucky and just reformat it, but if it's truly hdd failure then the drive is no good.

most drives have the capacity listed on it somewhere. if you can't find it, put the drive into your computer and see what the bios recognizes it as.

the only drawback to replacing the drive is that you will lose all of your saves.
if your chip has ftp capability you might be able to recover the tdata and udata folders from the e:\ drive if you're really lucky.

either the chip has that option, or you can download and run the slayer disk

    basically that is it exactly,
you download the iso from a torrent site (bt.xbox-sky.com) is where I go.
burn to a cd and boot.
It has a very easy to use menu driven interface that you really can't fuckup.
from that menu you can format the whole disk recreating the partition structure, or just a partition at a time. or just replace your dash. basically it's the easy way out for almost anything you need to do.

I would however recommend just reinstalling the dash at first, that way you might not loose all of your saves.
If your save games do not matter to you, fusk it. restore the whole damn thing.
