What I'm not understanding is why are you all saying that DVD+Rs don't work as good a DVD-R. Thats not true at all. I have a DVD writer that [bold]ONLY[/bold] writes DVD+R or DVD+RW, not both +Rs & -Rs. The majority of my games are backed up. I only have like 3 originals & I have over 15 games. Every last one of my backed up games are on DVD+Rs. [bold]Every single one!![/bold] All of them work. I only have problems with games that are on CDs that I have to use the stupid CD Loader(going to invest in new SM 3.3 though) or DVD games that need the CD Loader(Splinter Cell has been the only one so far) So, if that is yall's theories, go ahead with them & I will keep copying games on DVD+Rs while you keep your theories going.

u know the compatibility of your DVD might hold true for the +R but try using it for burning movie, i bet not many players will read it.

Ok, if anyone wants to contradict me then go ahead. [bold]YOU ARE WRONG!![/bold] Yes, sly, you probably are right seeing as how I have a v7 PS2. As of the regards to what cuteperv(?) said
Thats a bunch of BS. I burn [bold]ALL[/bold], yes [bold]Every Last One[/bold] weither it be a game or a DVD movie, I burn them [bold]ALL[/bold] on DVD[bold]+R[/bold]s. I have over 50+ backup movies & about 20+ backup games, all on DVD+R. I also have a Pioneer DVD player from like 4-5 years ago when they were actually more than a new PS2 game so once again, your theories can keep going as long as ou believe they are true but while you do I will just keep copyin' away with my DVD+Rs. Heh. =)

First off, this thread is not about Maden. Find one that has to do with someone having a problem with Madden & should more than likely find your answer. As to cuteperv... why would I go get a v1? We're in the future not past. If I were to get any new PS2 it would be the slimline. Plus, do they even make older version PS2's anymore? If not, than what is there to worry about? Not trying to sound like a d***(don't know if u can post it) but I just find it kind of annoying how people sit in threads like this & post about how their DVDs dont work because of the company or format. Just get a new PS2 or stop complainin'. Just get the DVDs u usually get to backup & thas the end of the story. if the game don't work then when you troubleshoot the problem u can start off with: "well, I have burned 2-3 copies of this game & does the same thing so it can't be my DVDs.) Alot, more problems would be addressed in topics that they were suppose to if people took the time to find out the preferred brand/media of DVD+/-R

we'll hellgates some people brought their PS2 when it first came out and don't have the money to go buy another PS2. Also we're here at these threads to get help or help others with problems so you shouldn't post stuff if it doesn't help.

I am here to help. Actaully I have posted in at least 30 different threads within like a week or two. I rarely get on the internet also. The things I do when I first get on the computer now is check the e-mail, check AfterDawn, & check the Killzone forums. Trust me i'm here to help, its just when people don't check out the forums & get use to them before they post questions that have been answered many times before. Thas my only beef. Other than that, i'm all for helpin' anyone out.

P.S. I also understand that there are some people with earlier PS2s. That is why they need to understand that & only get DVD-Rs(since that is obviously, by ya'lls saying, the only media type that work.) It is that simple. there are just alot of problems that could be solved if people wouldn't be so lazy & just take a few min or even a few days to just check things out & try to find their answers before they state their questions(I check the forums before I post any question, if there is one on it then I post there.)

No, you HAVE to mod it. Every PS2 ha to be modded to be abe to play backups/imports. EVERYONE should know that if you read the forums. Please people, this is what I am talking about. As simple as a question as this could have been answered by just 10-15 min. of browsing the forums. Come on, please keep this thread legit.

Well, I have spent quite some time trying to get Swap Magic 3.3 to work with Tiger Woods 2005 and GTA Vice CIty. I have tried ripping/burning them with DVD Decrypter and Alcohol120. I still get the not valid disc message.

I have the cover off of the PS2 and I am simply lifting the black guard off of the bay and swapping the discs that way. I don't know if that could be an issue. I just can't get the slide tool to work and it is about to break, so I thought that I would try it that way.

I have also tried Memorex DVD-R and Khypermedia + R. Neither work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You might want to use a higher quality media. Also, if you're referring to the 'slidecard', it's pretty simple to use properly. You take off the front piece of the tray, look for the small white pin inside the ps2, and slide it all the way to the right. Then, manually pull open the tray and make the swap. Finally, push the tray back in, find the pin, and push it back over to the left where it started from.

    Which media do you recommend?

As for the slide card, when I have the face plate off, I can't see any white plastic that indicatest the lever. Do you start at the right or the left? And is the hook side on the right or left of the handle?

    Thanks All,
    Larry

Depending on your ps2 version, -r's work on all systems and +r's work usually on 5 and up. Lots of people seem to like verbatim. On my slimline, i use HP 4x max dvd+r's.
For the slidecard, if you look directly into your drive, while it's in the closed position, i would say it's almost right in the middle, maybe an inch and a half in. Have good lighting when you're looking for it initially. To unlock it, start from the middle, and push it over to the far right.

My slimline (date code 4D, SCPH-700012) refuses to read DVD-R (it's less than a week old). I thought it was the media I was using, then that guy who copy-pastes the same reply to every media question (the one with media reliability chart) showed me that the media I was using was in the top 10% best.

I burned a movie to DVD+R and it reads perfectly. So, I've been wondering if it was the media I've been using, or if anyone else has problems burning on DVD-Rs for the v12s.

As for the DVD-Rs I've been using, they're the same DVD-Rs that I've been using for over 4 months to backup DVDs onto, and they work perfectly in every other player that I've tried, that supports DVD-R.
