I have been working on my computer since Sat evening. I have downloaded and run adware, spybot, hijack this. I was then told to download Ccleaner, ewido anispyware and smitfraudfix. I successfully downloaded installed and updated everything, except smitfraudfix. It seems to download ok to my computer, but everytime I try to extract all it freezes up my computer. When I advised the person who was working with me they told me, I might have a serious problem with my computer and they didn't know what i should do next. I have since rerun some of the adware, and spybot, and my homepage has come back. But I'm getting the virus alert on my computer again. I really thing that perhaps I'm not opening smitfraudfix corretly or there is something else going on. However I cannot run trend housecall either.. it freezes also. These are the only ones. Can someone please help
I have read severl of your threads and have tried your suggested way to open smitfraudfix. Before, I was downloading it to the C: file Now, I downloaded it to the desktop Then I "Open with.. Compressed (zipped) Folders Next, I Opened the folder Smitfraudfix and double cliked on smitfraudfix.cmd file This brings up a black screen and what looks like DOS?? C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe SmitFraudFis v2.74 Foreign language Foreign language... to me Process.exe file missing Unzip all the archive in a folder Pres any key to continue.... When I press any key ... the black screen disappears and I am back with the little icons for what is in the smitfraudfix folder is there something wrong with this program
Do I need a program to unzip all files?? When I right click on the zipped Smitfraudfix file there is no Unzip option. I have these options open, search, explore, extract all or open with> compressed (zipped) files.
Download and install Ewido Anti-Spyware 4.0 -> http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ -> Open Ewido Anti-Spyware -> Click the Update icon at the top of the window -> Click the Start update button -> Wait for the update to download and install -> Quit the program, we'll use this later. Restart your computer to the safemode -> http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml -> Open Ewido Anti-Spyware -> Click the Scanner icon at the top of the window -> Click the Settings tab then select Recommended Options and choose Quarantine -> Click the Scan tab -> Select Complete System Scan. The scanning begins. -> When the scan has completed: -> If infections were found you'll be prompted about what to do. -> Please make sure that the Set all elements to is set to Quarantine (in downleft corner of the window) -> Then press Apply all actions and answer yes to all if it asks about something -> Click on the Save Scan Report button and save the scan to your Desktop. -> Copy and paste the scan results into your next post-> Copy and paste the scan results into your next post
