I have a virus called 'Win32.Istbar.AS' or 'Trojan horse downloader.Istbar.9.AT'. My anti-virus programs can't get rid of it (AVG and Zone-Alarm). It's in my System Volume Infomation file. Can somebody help get rid of this virus or do I have to re-install XP.

No, AVG finds that trojan and puts it in the Virus vault, it is however unhealable but whilst in the "virus vault" it cant do anthing, its harmless, its just the same as qarentine.

DONT REINSTALL XP, jjssj sent me this virus and avg found it in a flash, nothing to worry about, its harmless when its in the virus vault.

Yeh i did that the day he sent me it, the virus is still in the virus vault, disabling system restore will delete everything on previous restore points, we have to do this as the infection can be backed up there, disable system restore re boot and enable it, according to avg the virus is still unhealable.
