So i tried using the DVD Decrypter to make my first copy of a movie and it didn't work. I made the copy just like it says in the guide but I didn't get a file with the extension .DVD like it said I would. All i got was a ISO file and a MDS file. I tried burning the ISO file, twice, cause it seemed like that could be it but the DVD didn't work after it had finished burning it onto the DVD. Am I doing something wrong? Should I use a different program besides DVD decrypter, what other programs are work better?
I would recommend downloading DVD shrink and getting Nero. Here is what I do to back up my DVD's, it works! 1. Create a file on your C: call it what you want. 2. Go into DVD shrink. This lets you decode (ijust found out) and compile your DVD into a format which can be burned by Nero. Select the file you have created and use that to copy the data into. 3. If you want to increase the quality of your back up you can edit out menu's etc but I normally like to keep them in. 4. There is a tab on the left hand side called Re-encode press that then an option menu comes up. It asks you which files you want to copy. Select all of them by clicking on the top one then pressing CTRL+SHIFT+END. Copy them over. 5. The next stage it asks you what level of compression you want it to be. You should select the one which is just below your disk size, around 4.3GB. If you have alot of data on this disk it may compress it near 50% some will hardly be compressed at all. 6. Select the option to encode and it will take about 30 mins to 1 hr to decode and compress it (nb, the more compression DVD shrink has to do the longer this process takes. 7. After this is done close down all other applications and open up Nero. Running other applications may disrupt the burning process. 8. If you have the wizard up select DVD, Compose DVD, DVD video file (i think?!) 9. Open the video file and copy all the files across that are in your original file. 10. Select appropriate burn speed and click box which verifies data written. 11. Burn!!! One backed up DVD!! All the DVD I've backed up have been good quality but not as good as the original but after all they are only back ups. Hope that helps
Thingimij, Yea I used DVD decrypter to burn it but after it did the dvd wouldn't play and it was like I had done nothing to it. I ended up getting Smart Ripper instead and was able to rip it that way then I got DVD2one (had to pay for it cuz trial version has restrictions on it) then I got Nero and after ripping it, I used DVD20ne and after that I tried to make a VideoCD with Nero but for some reason that didn't work but this morning I saw the Burn DVD option (I swear it wasn't their before when I first tried!!) and was able to finally burn the files onto the DVD-RW. It came out as fullscreen but it plays on my DVD player on my computer and on my regular DVD which is great!
