This will be long and probally annoying...sorry. First of all I thought had the burning thing mastered using only Shrink and Decrypter, then I got a new comp, and now I am lost again. Yes I tried using the guide: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/dvd9_to_dvdr_with_dvd_shrink.cfm first I will give you the differences in my systems. Old: Compaq Presario, Athalon CPU 533 mhz, 9 gig hard drive,256 RAM, File system=Fat32....Burner Khypermedia 8x New: Dell Demension, Pentium 4 CPU 2.00 GHz, 74 gig hard drive, 256 RAM, File system=NTFS...Burner Sony 16xDVD+R Single Layer Now with this being said I know that having different file systems makes a difference I just don't know what those differences are. What I am trying to burn is both Blade Trinity, and National Treasure. I followed the guide to the T, and used Nero to get the Video_ts files, and National Treasure burned fine but when I tried it in my player (sony also) it said "disk is dirty" I cleaned it and still got the same message. Then I burned Blade Trinity (or tried to anyway)and this time I chose to verify the disk and got an error. I saved the log from Nero: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Program Files\Ahead\nero\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.68, size=160016 bytes, created 7/22/2004 5:33:44 PM Nero version: 6.3.1.19 Recorder: <SONY DVD RW DRU-710A> Version: BY03 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.3.1.19 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <SAMSUNG CD-ROM SC-148C >Version: B104 - HA 1 TA 1 - 6.3.1.19 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : ST380021A atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SONY DVD RW DRU-710A atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG CD-ROM SC-148C atapi Port 1 ID 1 DMA: Off === CDRom-Device-Map === SONY DVD RW DRU-710A D: CDRom0 SAMSUNG CD-ROM SC-148C E: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 40894464 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 254MB (260912kB) Free physical memory: 84MB (86236kB) Memory in use : 66 % Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Static Write Speed Table: 0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 6.5.2005 UDF/ISO compilation 5:50:30 PM #1 Phase 112 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1865 DVD-Video files reallocation started 5:50:30 PM #2 Phase 114 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1865 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified) 5:50:30 PM #3 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6065 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : FALSE Write : TRUE Finalize CD : TRUE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet :FALSE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : TRUE Allow more than 255 characters in path : TRUE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 5:50:30 PM #4 Phase 111 File dlgbrnst.cpp, Line 1865 DVD-Video files sorted 5:50:30 PM #5 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 118 Reader running 5:50:30 PM #6 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 124 Writer SONY DVD RW DRU-710A running 5:50:30 PM #7 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 5:50:30 PM #8 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3899 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 5:50:30 PM #9 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3173 Turn on Disc-at-once, using DVD media 5:51:06 PM #10 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 247 Last possible write address on media: 2295103 (510:01.28, 4482MB) Last address to be written: 2192031 (487:07.06, 4281MB) 5:51:06 PM #11 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 259 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 5:51:06 PM #12 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2162 Recorder: SONY DVD RW DRU-710A, Media type: DVD+R Disc Manufacturer ID: CMC MAG, Media Type ID: E01, Product revision number: 0 Disc Application Code: 0, Extended Information Indicators: 3 5:51:06 PM #13 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 420 >>> Protocol of DlgWaitCD activities: <<< ========================================= Disc not writeable. not enough. If anyone can help me here it would be soo greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!!
Forgot to mention that the media I am using is HP Invent 8x. These are the only ones I have ever used and I have used roughly 100, and never had any problems. Thanks
Not a highly recommended manufacturer for dvd media. They do cause a lot of problems. You can have numberous errors on your backup, especially burning at 8x. You've got a different burner, therefore, your stand alones are going to play them different.I had a khypermedia +8x in my new pc when I got it,but my apex player wouldn't play the backups from it. A new benq 1620 took care of it. Different burners, different lasers= some stand alones can be pickier on which burner's backups they will play. The usual "no disc/dirty disc" errors will occur meaning it is likely a compatability issue.Sometimes switching to a higher quality media and a 4x burnspeed may take care of it. 8x burn speed is pretty fast, especially on cmags. I burn a few,but I burn them at 2.4x,not the recommended 8x like the mfgs list. Again, poor media has to be burned slower. Was this the original copy you tried to backup or was it a copy you were trying to re-rip for another copy? The burn log said successful so: How do those backups look when you view them on your new pc using the sony dvdrw drive-the drive that produced those backups?
