I recently downloaded VOBBLANKER. I used DVDFAB Decrypter 2.9.6.8 to decrypt the movie Madagascar. Then when I went to use VOBBLANKER I followed the directions listed at http://www.k-probe.com/backup-newly-release-DVD-DVDFAB-Decrypter-VobBLanker-Nero-Recode-2.php by Alkohol and it took me almost 7 hours for VOBBLANKER to process. It all processed fine but why did it take so long. Because I was reading in here that it is a quick process. Any Help Would Be Greatly Appreciated
VobBlanker should take 5 - 12 minutes to process only. There may be other applications/programs that conflicts with VobBlanker (a possibility). Don't run AnyDVD, DVD43 or other cracking engines on the background while you're ripping the movie with DVDFAB Decrypter and or while you're "processing" the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker. DVDFAB Decrypter is already a ripper engine. If you decided to go with AnyDVD or DVD43, then you don't need to use DVDFAB Decrypter or vice versa. Out of curiosity, what are you computer specs (i.e. processor & RAM)?
Hmm well I dont know what is going on then. Crazy... cause I had all other programs disabled including my virus protection. Off the top of my head I am not sure of the spec's of my computer. I will have to check them out when I get home. But would it make any difference in speed, because I am using an external hard drive to save my VIDEO_TS.IFO files to?? Also thanks for your quick reply
When processing takes this long it can be a DMA issue. Check to make sure that your optical drives are not running in Pio mode. If that turns out to be the case, we can help you get back on DMA or you can check AD forums on how to do this.
Well since I am a newbie at this whole computer backing up thing, I need to know how to check if i am running in PIO or DMA mode. How do I check this?
http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/checking DMA.pdf This is a guide is a good start. Learn to search forums for answers as this has been addressed many times already.
Alright so I have checked my to see if my computer is in PIO mode or DMA mode and I found out that it is all in DMA mode. Also I checked the spec's of my computer and here is what I found: 568MHz, 896 MB of RAM. I would really appreciate any help that you could provide for me.
@Mouse_77 It should never take you 7 hrs to PROCESS the VIDEO_TS.IFO file through VobBlanker 2.1.0.0., VobBlanker should take like 5 - 12 minutes to process only. I suspect you maybe having some DMA issues, or otherwise, there is a possibility that your system is infected with spyware, virus? Therefore, it's taking forever. To troubleshoot DMA, go here http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm/231/dmaissues I suggest you get these free tools, install on your system and run them in safe mode, if you're running XP OS. Ad-Aware SE Personal SbyBot Search & Destroy CCleaner Microsoft Anti-Spyware HiJackThis (be very careful of what you delete) AVG Free Edition
Thanks for the tips I will definately get some of those programs to get ride of some spyware that is likely on my computer. But as for the DMA... I have followed your guide to check to see if the computer is running in DMA mode of PIO mode... and the primary and secondary are both set to DMA if available. So I don't think that is the problem. Am I correct about this???
