Hi i have just brought another xbox hard drive because my old one wouldn't load games or the dashboard so I had nothing to restore it from. The guy I brought it from said it worked fine. "It would work in my xbox" well so he said! it comes up with error code 6 (cannot unlock hard drive) I have heard in other places I need software to get them to work together (mother board and hdd)? is this true and if so where can I get it? With out using mod chips! I searched but could not find any one else with the same problem! Thanks for taking the time to read this Gunmetald
You cannot swap a hard drive from one xbox to another in that manner. You will need to get the EEPROM of the other/old hdd and so it can be used on the new hdd.
