    Codec: Xvid-1.0.3-20122004.exe

This codec works for the movies I play but my problem is that I keep have to re-install it??? I download the codec, play my movie and if I go to replay it or play another, it doesn't work...I re-install and all works fine again. Any advice would greatly be appreciated!

Don't think it has anything to do with the codec or the installer since I have never heard of it happening to anyone else. Still why 1.0.3? Why not 1.1 or a 1.2 cvs build? Also if you are only using it for decoding you could use ffdshow instead.

I encode with only the XviD codec, so that was my only codec for all playback. It was set to decode all FourCC incl. DivX, DX50 and mp4v.
I, however, had playback problems with a 700MB DivX AVI.
Just to troubleshoot, I installed a recent DivX codec to see if my file would now play. It did indeed.
So, honestly if you're not encoding XviD, and you just want good playback, install the FFDShow or DivX Playback package.
If you ARE encoding XviD (that's what this forum is for) then get Koepi's December 2005 codec:
    http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/xvid.cfm
    Otherwise, you don't need it.
Yikes! Uninstall that XviD you have now (and burn it) it seems haunted, something wrong there. LoL ;^)
    Regards

For encoding, I'd go with a 1.2cvs build.
