i recently downloaded training day but wen i opend the file it was in mkv format this is the first time i hav come across this format and wanted to know how to convert to avi/mpeg? i tried tmpenc but it said it waz an illegal video file does any1 now a simple program to convert this file???
Really depends what is in it. mkv is just a container format. For instance if it has an XviD video stream, then you could simply demux that to avi, where as if it uses real video then you couldn't. mkv can handle, real video, wmv, AVC, any VFW codec, MPEG1, MPEG2 and various audio formats. That said as long as you can play the file via dshow, then TMPGEnc should open it via dshow.
