I have been thinking of modding my ps2 in the following way: a) DMS3 or DMS4 modchip (I may not need this - read below) b) Install a 120 or 160Gb HDD with HD Advance and Toxic Now the 1st question is, does the original game need to be in the ps2 when playing the game off the HDD? I am not too concerned about online gaming. 2nd question is, if I was to backup the original game, could I use that same backup to load onto the hdd. Would HD Advance be able to do that, does it still require the original or some other way? 3rd question, if I was to borrow an original game from a friend, would I be able to install the game onto the hdd which bring the 1st quesiton into light again. Last question, in saying all this, is HD Advance similar to a modchip if you were to use original games and load them directly onto the hdd should the original not be required if you are playing the agme off the hdd. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
1- no, you just need to boot hd advance everytime you want to play a game on your hdd. 2- yes, a backup will install in hd advance. but make sure you have a way to play backups like a modchip. 3- yes but if you dont own the original, delete it from your hdd. this is when the piracy rule come into effect. last answer- my opinion is that hda will cut down on load times and laser usage.
xxONExx Thanks or your help. I will most probably purchase a maxtor hdd and hd advance. I will give it a go. If I have any probs, I will definitely visit the forum again. Thanks again. blue200
