I was installing a Xecuter 2.3 lite, and so, i am only used to installing the 2.2 and down, so I didnt realize I had to use the USB hookup as a power source. Anyways, I installed, and it didnt work. So, I took the chip out, and now the Xbox just powers up and down 3 times, and flashes red on the third time. Its really annoying. I have inspected for bad traces, and I have tried to test all of them for continuity. Im just not sure what to do now?

its ok, i dont care about this xbox anymore, but what I do need is the info on the hard drive. I have tried unlocking the drive with the Key, but it appears that I have the wrong key. I had it backed up from before, but it wont let me unlock it!?!?! I decided that the only other way to get to the data would be to physically put the EEPROM from this dead MB onto another. So, I did, but I still cant read the drive. I dont get it. Any help please????

Yes sticking the chip back in could matter. Because it might work with the chip in. Sounds like the bios file off the Xbox itself got screwed up but the chip could still be good.

I was having that problem, my xbox doesnt work with the chip out, but it does when it is in. I never remove it anyway so it doesnt make a difference to me, but reflash it and put it back in to see what happens
