HELP!

    i recently got an internal hard drive from Seagate but i dont know how to put it in my pc
    i got my pc from dell dimension 9100
    i know how to install the hard drive in my old comp but not this one
    the wires in my new comp is totally diff
    what i mean is that usually the internal hard drive wires has the blue,black and white but i cant plug ANY of those into my new pc

    plz help me if you know how

    what type of drive is the seagate as in ide, sata or scsi? what hd controller is in the dell as in ide or sata?

    which 1 of the 2 drives is the seagate & which 1 is the dell type?

    the one at the left is the dell drive and the one on the left is seagate

    If that is correct, than you know what ddp is gonna say next don't cha??

    If they are both SATA drives, they'll each have to be plugged into their own perspective ports on the motherboard. SATA1, SATA2...etc, etc, are for single drive use.

    (daisy chaining SATA drives is in the works)

    i cant seem to find the ports on the motherbroad that fits the cable
    there is not enuff pins on the motherbroad

    EDIT:
    i mean the little holes in the cable
    and there is not enuff of those pins in the motherbroad
    the cable has like 40little holes but the port on the motherboard has only 38(mayb 36)

    the cable should go in the same kind of slot that your cd drives connect to. there is a smaller slot aswell but thats for floppy drives. if it definately doesnt fit in the same slot that the cd drives go in then perhaps its a scsi drive

    scsi-1 is 50pins, ide is 40 & floppy is 34

    how many ide drives do you have now as can have 2 ide drives on each data cable?

    yes i knw the cable can hold two drives but the dell drive(the pic on the left) has different cable then my seagate drive

    if youd been clever about it you would have found out what kind of connection you needed before you bought the drive.

    have you actually tried to put it on the same connectors the cd drives are using yet?

    the drives can be of different connection you know that wont cause a problem

    you have a cd drive & a dvd drive on same cable, correct?
