    i have an avi movie which is chinese and contains chinese subtitles. is it possible to rip the chinese subtitles into a text file so that i can translate it into english and put it back in the movie.......please help me

    short answer, no... There are programs out that which will let you add in subtitles on your own, so if you don't mind retyping the entire movie, and spending countless hours re-rendering/encoding it then knock yourself out. You can use DVDshrink to remove the subtitles, and Adobe premiere to put in the new ones. But believe me, this is going to take a long time
