Maybe I'm missing an option somewhere...
    Maybe I'm missing a codec...

..but I can't seem to find the option to encode into divx.

Here's my proceedure just in case I'm missing a step or there's a different program to use:

    1. Rip the DVD to the HD with DVD Decrypter
    2. Edit out the content with IFOEdit
    3. Take the IFO and VOB files into DVD2AVI
    - and create the .wav and .d2v files
    4. Use TMPGEnc to make the .mpg

Step 4 is where I'm thinking I should have the divx option.

Reason I'm asking: I'm getting great results with what I'm doing, but the file sizes are still to big for a 700MB CD-R (approx. 1.5GB). I want to get the file size under 700MB if possible.

Any help is greatly appreciated. :)_X_X_X_X_X_[small][ Tech1 ]

Thats a nasty cough you have there son.

Anyway, one possible reason for getting this error that is not obvious, is if the files divx.log and mvinfo.bin, which are created during the first pass, are not found by DivX when it comes to start the second pass.

This is the only thing I've ever seen give you that error for any size, although I'm not claiming to have seen them all ;).

If I'm doing a long encode, I actually take a copy of these files after the first pass, and then if there is a disaster/power cut/I need to do something in a hurry I can stop the second pass and not have to run the first pass again. Needless to say, if you change the settings in any major way between runs, DivX either chokes and gives up or spews big blocky chunks.

    Enjoy.
