I was thinking about buying this drive because my other drive has some problems which are to expensive to fix. Does anyone know if this is a good driver for burning dvds and cds and if the lightscribe works good? Here is a link to a page about the driver. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7684927&type=product&id=1134703573506 Thanks for your help.
i have that drive for 2 months now, the only things it does now is play cd/dvd(commercial dvd), burns cd only, and cant read my burned dvds or burn them at all, get a pioneer, nec, or some other burner.
FYI, that is a rebadged LG 4166b drive and has been well rated by many. However, if you are getting one at Best Buy, I'd suggest getting the LG GSA-H10L: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage...t&productCategoryId=cat01041&id=1142291022848 This drive is also well rated and is newer and faster then the 4166b. ty533, If you've only had it for 2 months, it's still under warranty. Get it replaced.
hp sevice rep. say i need a credit card to send replacement, i have no credit card, so they can't help.
ty533 thats a lie. you don't need a credit card. why would you need a credit card for them to send a replacement?
You would need a credit card for them to crossship a new one(ie. send a new one to you first, before you return the broken one). They shouldn't need one if you send them your drive first.
i asked them if i can send them the drive first, then they can send the new one, but they said they can't do it, here's what she said "Serena V We need the credit card information as collateral. We will not charge anything to the card if the defective drive is shipped back to us within 30 days of the receipt of the replacement drive. Our call back team will call you right now for the credit card details, is it alright?"
I'd call back and see if you get someone else to help you. I'd explain to them that you don't have a credit card and you want to send the drive in for repair/replacenment first.
