Ok.... my friend laerned about softmodding XBOXs and tried it (he used Slinter Cell) and he did all the required installs etc. And it worked fine on his XBOX(he loves it).... then he comes over here and does the same thing to my XBOX and he brought one of his burned games....(after installing and everything loading and working fine) and put it in my XBOX but UnleashX (or just my softmodded title menu.... new to this)after it reads disc (in that top right corner) it says the disc is unknown.... but on my friends it says game.... but when i put a regular game in it says game... but when i put burned ISOs in it just says Unkown?...

    Please i need some help,

    thnx

It could be just that your Xbox doesn't read the type of DVD that his does.

No, you are not screwed at all. You just got stuck w/ the shitty version of the xbox w/ the crappy dvd player. All you need to do is buy different media (dvd-r/dvd+r). When you find which one works the best, then thats what you know to buy and back up your games w/.

Yessir :) Pm me if you wanna know where to get the linux files or even if you want AID and a tutorial on how to install it. If you go w/ aid, you wont have to search for all the emulators that are all across the internet or all on mirc channels since htey are all on the AID disc.

Let me ask and say this to you...I did use the restore option and it did take me back to how my Xbox was in the beginning however when Softmodding it again I noticed that the Creating Ms Backup & Creating Mod Backup was still left on the xbox hdd. And really basically all I had to do was just install the Softmod and install Evox again. I did make a backup copy of my Ms folder onto my computer. What Im wanting to do is restore my xbox like from the very beginning before Softmod. How am I able to do that? My only choices are:
    1.Create MS Backup
    2.Create Mod Backup
    3.Restore Ms Backup
    4.Restore Mod Backup
    5.Delete Ms Backup
    6.Delect Mod Backup
    7.Install Softmod
    8.Install Evox
    9.Install UnleashX
    10.Patch Ms 5960
    11.Settings
    12.Saves Manger
    13.File Manager
    14.Reset FTP
    15.Reset Network
    16.Open Tray
    17.Close Tray
    18.Launch DVD
    19.Restart Xbox
    20.Turn Off Xbox

2)Also I have a new hdd coming within the next couple of days. As many times as Im able to FTP my xbox and restore it and makes changes, when I upgrade to the new hdd will I be able to do the same thing as many times?

Maybe someone can help me. my softmodded Xbox does not run the original msdash.xbe anymore (displays error21 if attempted). Works fine with Evox or whatever other dash I load. Not sure if it happened after playing a live enabled game or after my 10 jear old accidently got in the blue evolutionx dash. A restore of the c: drive has not worked and I am now not sure if the backup is 100% OK or something else is wrong.

Wow...a lot for me to try to explain...bare w/ me.

    @tommigirl-
If you have your original ms dash from when you made your first backup and it is on your computer now, all you have to do is put it in the backup directory (I think its in the E:/Backups folder) and then go to restore backup. Your xbox will prolly still have it on your hdd, but you wont be able to access it, xbl wont see it, and your xbox will be 99.9% the same as b4 you softmodded it. If you really wanted the files off so that you are 100% the same...there is a way, but let me know ify ou want to know it.

    @kwherry-
If you used SID for your linux files, then yeah, you wont have your msdash. There is a way tho...but no tutorials have it in them. You have to use "Patch Ms 5960" to make it so you have the ms dash. I'm not 100% sure that that is the only thing you have to press to get it...so I'm sorry if I do not know. You can check the SID forums. Just type in SID 2.0 in google and it should be at xbox-hq or something like that. And i'm thinking that the restore of the C: drive doesnt work might be b/c you didnt do the ms backup before you started softmodding...taht's the only thing I can think of. If you need to know where to get a clean backup, pm me. I just saw someone had a link to one the other day.

Azzidrain...thanks for your help. I've had to restore my xbox a couple of times using restore Ms backup and I was thinking that my xbox was back the way it was before softmodding however I was told by someone that sells Modded Xboxes that the bios was still modded so its not totally back the way it was originally. I did backup the Ms Files from my xbox to my computer and they are the original files from when I first modded my xbox. I would like to get the directions from you on how to completely erase the files were my xbox was original 100%. Also I have a new hdd coming in for my xbox...As many times as we are able to restore the xbox through softmodding, will be that able to continue with a new(larger)hdd in the xbox?

Ummm...I'm not 100% sure on how to do it w/ a larger hdd. I would check out xbox-scene.com for that.

About getting the files off now. You will need to run your linux installer, get the ip in the lower right hand corner (I think), then ftp to your xbox and delete the backup files, emulators, roms, etc. that you have in your E drive. NOTE: Not everything in your E drive is from softmodding. So don't go deleting everything.

Azzidrain...wait...this is making sense to me. If Im deleting things but not everything on E, still would I restore the xbox. If Im taking everything off its not going to restore so that isnt making sense to me. Plus once I delete everything I wouldnt be able to FTP my xbox to put the original files back on the hdd.

Whoa whoa whoa...slow down there turbo. Ok, here's what you do:
    Restore your ms backup
Run linux again but dont install it; it will give you your xbox's ip, connect via ftp. Delete your backup folder.
Now, take out your game and restart your xbox.
Go into your memory and delete the linux files if everything is working properly.

    Is that more clear?
