Ok i had my friend install UnleashX on my XBOX and it came with some Apps like DVD2XBOX and DVD Region v2.0 Dongle Free... And i was wondering can my XBOX read DVD-R movies now? and how? and what exactly do DVD2XBOX and DVD Region do?
well thats kind of tough, your xbox has a dvd-rom drive and can read them but you need a app to watch them i dont know what app off the top of my head but look around google or some other threads
thats so crap i used auto installer deluxe and i didn't even get any apps in it. i have this other thing that copies them though its in te miscelaneous menu along with open/close dvd drive start/stop ftp
I use XBMP for streaming but have something called 'movie player - dongle free v2' or something like that anyway. The autoplay option is checked so if I turn the xbox on with a dvd in it goes straight to the dvd menu,,,,which is nice. From the name you might have guessed you don't need to buy the infa red dongle to use it. As for DVD-R in particular I think it depends on both your DVD drive and your chip, though i think they all should be ok with DVD-R. It's DVD+R that some have a problem with. I got a stack of 50 DVD+R by accident and my xbox plays games and movies from them fine but if I lend the discs to my friend they don't work on his as he has a different chip. As long as you have some app to play them, yes DVD-R should be fine but best stay away from DVD+R to be safe.
