Tracy sent Ferg a pm go to compose private message at the top of the main forum page, type Fergusrb in the name slot and sent him a message. He will pick your query up.
Tracy to be quite honest I dont think a reflash will do you any good as it looks like it may be knackered see here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/557747 But I will help you out if you what to give it a try.
You dont open the 2.57_fixed bin file , you download it and save it to your folder where you downloaded the GT ROM Loader
Sorry Tracy , I wont be here for long as I have to go out , Heres the instructions on how to flash a clone SV Updating Firmware Connect your box and PC with a Null modem cable and switch on the cable box and put it on STANDBY. (The Starview does not need to be connected to TV to update it with GTROM) Open GTROM Loader software make sure that you set the correct COM PORT that matches the one that is being used Make sure App file only is selected, then click Bin File & browse to the firmware where you downloaded it to on your PC. Run the GTROM loader by pressing Download and you will see the % progress increase then Download completed message on your PC. Wait until you see the DOWNLOAD COMPLETE pop up on your PC before removing the NULL MODEM CABLE. The Starview will then reboot Turn off and turn back on , then plug your tv cable and scart back in
Tracy Celtic had to go for a while I am here for a few minutes more try these steps. You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F your's may look similar but it might not be the correct one. Null modem info here http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=L71BT&DOY=2m6 If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable. USB Adapter info here http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Modu...erial Adaptor These two cable links are only for reference as they can be purchased alot cheaper on fleabay. All firmware/loader can be found in the link at the end of my post marked Eamos FTA Library. You will need the GTromloader, (Starview Software Uploader), found in the Starview folder of the link. You will need either version 2.57 fixed for a CLONE box OR version 4.oo for a GENUINE box. Please note my comment on clone/genuine boxes below. Both of these can be found in the Starview Firmware Folder of the link. To help you decide which type of box you have click on the link at the end of my post marked SV EV Info, then click on clones, this will help you figure out whether you have a clone or genuine box. And please download the Starview PDF guide this will give you step by step instructions on how to do everything. This can be found in the Starview Documentation folder in the link.
As I said I have seen this problem before http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/557747 and it looks like the box is knackered, how long have you had it for?
