hi im totally new to the cable scene but i live in london and need some help please

is there somebody in london who can help me set up a receiver, i dont know whether to buy eurovox, starview or dreambox 500c. i have no experience in any of these cable matters. all i have been told is that i need a basic subscription from virgin and then i need one of these other boxes to start getting free channels. but i dont understand all these programming matters. i have tried reading these websites but i dont understand these things. i also dont know which is the most reliable box to get.

basically is there anybody in the london harrow area who could help me set it up and show me how to update my keys regularly, i would be happy to pay reasonable amount for their time spent.

The Starvi*w is on of the easiest to set up , once you have the correct firmware on it , it will update the codes for you

You will need a null modem cable DB9F to DB9F.

If your pc does not have a serial port you will need a USB to serial port adapter to use in conjunction with the null modem cable.

thanks im really grateful to you. i have the null modem cables now, went out and purchased it this morning.

but perhaps i wasnt very clear in my last post. im totally new and i dont know how to tranfer the firmware my IT skills are very limited, so any instructions that I need will really need to be step by step, as i have no previous experience with cable boxes or programming.
