whenever i burn a video file, usually avi, to a DVD so that i can have it play on my standalone DVD player i get small problems. nearly once every DVD i get a small hiccup with the video, its nothing big and I'm not having any other problems, picture and sound are usually very nice.. i think the problem is happening when i am transcoding, i think thats what it is called, because i have looked at the video file before the burn and there is no messup and i looked at the log file after the burn and used Nero's data checker thing and nothing seems to be written wrong. plus I'm burning at my lowest speed I'm using DVD Santa and Nero, they both present me with a glitch... could i maybe be my codecs? or just that my computer doesn't have quite enough power because it still take me like four and a half hours to transcode the DVD. on one of my DVD players the image gets pixleated for a split second before it skips if that helps at all.... any help is appreciated
i was using sony discs and the problem was still coming up now im using RiDATA with equal, possibly less, problems
Are the Sony discs made in Japan? What is the speed your burning the disc at? You may be burning to fast. Recommended is 1/2 the rated speed of the disc.
no clue if they are made in japan? do you think its a pal to ntsc thing? well im burning at the lowest speed possible for my burner 2.4 and the RiDATA discs im using now say 8x thats like 1/3 is there any problems when converting video files to dvd format that has to do with processing power, besides time of course.
No. That problem usually causes a "rolling" screen. Up your burn speed to 4X. Try a different converter. I recommend ConvertXtoDVD. What are you computer specs? How much RAM do you have?
AMD 1800+ 512mb RAM not too bad but ill try with the higher burn speed and let you know thakns alot for the help phr34k
i think i found the solution, i just got two dvds with no problems, so it might be good to go. i flashed the firmware to a newer version, it wasnt from the vendor though it was open source... so good luck. i just googled my drive.. but heres my nero log any way thanks for the help phr34k
Some things I noted about your log. [bold][14:55:58] <---MT---> Physical memory : 383MB (392688kB) [14:55:58] <---MT---> Free physical memory: 111MB (113852kB) [14:55:58] <---MT---> Memory in use : 71 % [/bold] You should get more RAM. At least upgrade to 512MB. More would be better. The memory in use is very high. Close down all apps when burning. Do not multi-task. Disconnect from the internet. [bold][14:55:58] <---MT---> DVD high compatibility mode: Yes [/bold] Turn this off. Use only for duel layer discs. [bold] [14:55:58] <---MT---> Media Specific [16..63]: [14:55:58] <---MT---> 00 30 01 02 04 06 00 00 - 00 08 00 00 00 00 00 00 .0.............. [14:55:58] <---MT---> 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ [14:55:58] <---MT---> 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ [/bold] This is an indication that your firmware doesn't fully like the discs you are using. Although it knew what they were, it doesn't have a real good write stratgy for them. If your getting good burns then keep it up. Happy burning!
