Hidden files on ps2 disc

I am trying to do my first backup of a ps2 game (ratchet & clank original) and I used dvd decrypter to extract the ISO from the game just fine but when I open the ISO image in ISOBuster all I see are these three files.

SCUS_971.99 (1.31 MB)
IOPRP243.IMG (258 KB)
SYSTEM.CNF (59 bytes)

which as you can see does not even add up to 2MB and the dics itself says it's 3.92GB so there is obviously some files not being shown and I was wanting to know how to show ALL the files on the disc so that I can extract them and burn my disc properly.

I also checked the original dvd and it to only shows those three files as well so I am not sure what I need to do to view them. I have show hidden files & folders checked in XP so I know it's not that. Any help would be great thx.

Is this really that difficult to answer or does nobody understand the question ?

 

you should try to burn it with dvd decrypter i think that will be more effective because i burn all my games that way and nothing goes wromg. I've never used used isobuster before so i woludn't know if that's the problem.

 

as I said the original disc only shows those three files as well but when I put in another disc (FFX original for example)it shows other files so I am just wanting to know why some disc show all the files and others don't.

There is not a problem with the ISO file itself as you can see in this picture it's showing the correct size for the game (Star Ocean Till The End Of Time)




but when I open the ISO in ISOBuster this is all I see



as you can tell by the filesizes they deff don't add up to 4.33GB but rather less then 1mb. I did try extracting the files to a temp folder but the size is as I said less then 1mb so again my question is how do I view the hidden files in ISOBuster so I can extract them all and proceed with my making my backup.

 

i dont know what you are trying to do,
just open up a folder alongside isobuster,and click on each file/folder and drag them over to the new one,dont extract them,(physically drag them over with the mouse pointer).
i can assure you the true size will be shown
and you have changed the game you was talking about?

 

I did drag them over and the folder size was 0.98mb or as I said before less then 1mb and I only changed the game because I was trying it with a new game to see if it was just the game or if other games had the same problem. The original game I was talking about (ratchet and clank) has the same issues.


Here are the steps I have taken

1. Insert original game into my dvd burner (star ocean DVD 1)
2. Use the ISO Read mode in dvd decrypter to get the ISO image from the disc to my HD

3. Open up ISOBuster and load the ISO image from my HD

4. Create a temp folder on my desktop

5. Drag (with the mouse) every file to the temp folder I made in the step above.

6. Right click on the temp folder and check it's properties and it's saying it's only 0.98mb in size.

If thats what you mean then thats what I did.

 

there is no need to put the image on the hardrive,you can drop it over straight from the disk,either way it should work for you
it should take a few minutes.maybe more depending on pc power and soze of TOC

this is what you should be looking for,
if this is what you are doing already,then i am lost here at this point

 

ok going back to the ratchet and clank DVD (since it's on 1 disc and less confusing) I

1. Loaded up ISOBuster and inserted my original game disc (ratchet & clank)

2. ISOBuster started reading the disc and showed this information.



3. I then dragged (with the mouse) each of those files (1 by 1) to an temp folder on my desktop

4. I then checked the folders properties and it only said it was 1.57 MB

As far as I can see I have done everything right but I don't understand why the other files and folders are not showing up like you have in your example above. As you may have seen in the picture I have NEC_3520A Burner which is less then 3 days old and have been told by many people it's one of the best (if not THE best) burner you can have for PS2 games so I don't think there is anything with it thats stopping me from viewing the files and my original disc are in excellent shape (no scratches or fingerprints on any of them) so don't think it's that either but at this point I don't know.

 

hmmm,this has got me stumped for the minute,..??
not sure why this is happening,its quite usual for the sizes shown in isobuster not to be the true size.
i havent got r+c at hand to open up the image and see.(

 

how big is the iso image you made from decrypter?and why are you extracting the game files?cant you just copy the iso image?

 

The ratchet & clank ISO image that I decrypted using DVD Decrypter is 3.92GB which is exactly the same size as it is on the DVD itself however when I open it (the ISO image) up in ISOBuster the only files that are shown are the ones in the picture above which only total about 1.8mb

The problem as I said before does not seem to be with the ISO file but rather a setting thats not allowing me to see the other files that are there. (if there are any that is)

The only other games I can test at the moment are

Final Fantasy X
Jak & Daxter
SSX Tricky
Star Ocean: Till the end of time

The reason I am not simply using the Mode > ISO > Write mode in DVD Decrypter to write the image to a blank DVD is because all the tutorials I have read said you should use Nero to burn your ISO images with as it has a better success rate then DVD Decrypter and I have tried burning ISOS in nero before and not had much success with it so I just would rather do it this way.

On as side note if anyone has the original disc of any of the games I listed above and opens them up in ISOBuster and tells me what files they see then it would help out alot.

i really don't see why you just don't use dvd decrypter to read the image and then to burn it...i have nero and i absolutely refuse to use it for games...it VERY testy when it comes to games....
Open Dvd Decrypter....Click on "mode">"ISO READ"....click on the button to read it(the one with disk pointing to the hard drive)let it do it's thing...then once it is done go back to "mode" then "ISO WRITE"...and click on the button to write it(the one with the hard drive pointing at the disk)...ooohhh and burn at the slowest speed possible...i swear by this method man...just give it a whirl...you really only need isobuster to rebuild games...i have backed up rachet and clank with this method...good luck

 

Thx for the info and I never really had a prob with using dvd decrypter for me it's a matter of whaterver works use it. I was just concerned if it would burn correctly seeing how as some of the files appear to be hidden thats why I was asking if anyone had an original ratchet & clank game could report the files they see in iso buster.

I don't even like ratchet & clank very much I just used it as an example really because it's a popular game that I figured alot of people would have laying around.

The reason I went to ISO Buster in the first place was because I wanted to check if another game (star ocean: till the end of time) had any dummy files on it that I could remove so that I might be able to put both of the original game DVDS onto 1 DVD but when I saw that ISO only had 3 files on it I got concerned and thought it might just be this game but to make sure I put in the ratchet & clank game to confirm or deny this and it to does not show all the files so thats when I came on here to ask the question.

I will give dvd decrypter a try but I won't know if it worked or not till I get my ps2 back in about a week (it's out being modded right now) so I will let you know how it goes.

I would still like to know what other people who have the games I listed above seen when they put them in ISOBuster just to confirm or deny if it's my machine thats having problems or not. If you do then please reply and thx for your time.

 

sounds like it might be your isobuster that is the problem.try uninstalling it then reinstalling it.and if you have a modchip you shouldnt have to rebuild too many games.most of the people who try to make the game size smaller(thats what you do when you extract the game) use swap magic discs.most modchips dont have problems with games with large size.as far as putting both discs on one disc,i dont know how that would work.did someone tell you how to do this or are you assuming it would work?

 

i have just noticed something on you isobuster list,your image file doesnt look like mine,as posted,i have checked 5 games and they are all the same.
yours is "unknown file symbol",which means isobuster is not not recognising the image type
check other games to confirm this

The reason your img file has an icon and mine don't is beacuae you have file associations setup for *.IMG files (prob with dvd decrypter) and I don't. That will not cause the problems I seem to be having but thanks for keeping a lookout.

I tried both version 1.7 (pro) and then upgraded to 1.8 (pro) after uninstalling 1.7 pro thru add/remove programs so not that either and about why I thought I could combine both DVDS on one disc it's because I read this article http://home.versatel.nl/joeriroels/Download/DVD_games DVDRIPS and CD games_on_a_DVD_-JRLS.htm
which explains exactly how to do it so figured it was possible since someone had already done it and wrote a tutorial about it.

 

have you put the games in your dvd drive then went into your my computer and select the drive to see if all the files are there?eliminate your drive being the problem first.

Yes I have and the exact same files that you see in the picture are the ones I see when I explore the DVD thru windows. I don't think it's the drive because it would not show any of the files not just some of them and other then that the drive is less then a week old.

Again if anyone has any of the following games (origianls) and can put them in ISOBuster and can list the files they see or show a pic of them then I will know if there is something wrong or not.
